Trey

Aubrey Bryan Smith III (“Trey”) grew up in Jackson and attended the Univeristy of Mississppi.  He graduated in 1996 with bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science. Next, he simultaneously attended law school at Mississippi College while serving as a law clerk to Mississippi's 61st Governor, Kirk Fordice. On behalf of the Governor, he researched and briefed legal issues related to the Governor's legislative and policy agendas. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Smith began his practice in 2000. During his nearly twenty-five year career he has successfully litigated medical malpracice claims involving wrongful deaths, permanent injuries, medication errors, and birth injuries. He is licensed to practice in all of Mississippi's federal and state courts.

About

Mr. Smith spent the first sixteen years of his career counseling and defending hospitals, clinics, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers against medical malpractice claims. In 2016, he transitioned his practice to assisting and representing individuals who had been injured as a result of medical negligence. Having litigated complex malpractice cases to verdict on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, Mr. Smith possesses a strong understanding of the intricacies of medical malpracitice claims. In addition to litigation, he has assited medical clients with the development of internal policies and procedures, employee contracts, insurance disputes, and general business negotiations. Mr. Smith is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the American Bar Assoication, Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Mississippi Oil and Gas Lawyers Association.  He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Committees for Health Law and Natural Resources, Environment & Energy ("SONREEL"), which he chaired in 2013.
